We have prepared 3D-print files for two temporal bone models, which are available as .stl files for download below. STL files need to be prepared in the 3D-printer’s slicer software before printing.
We recommend printing in “transparent” ABS or Lay-brick (PLA with added chalk) for the most realistic drilling experience. Details on the optimal print settings and post-print processes are detailed in our open access publication. The latest version of the Visible Ear Simulator allows easy export of 3D-print files for training (undrilled models) or inspection (drilled models).
The VES model is the high resolution model in the VR simulator based on the Visible Ear project data by Dr. Sølvsten Sørensen, whereas the remaining models are based on the OpenEar datasets by Dr. Sieber.
